DYC offers Mindfulness Meditation classes on the DYC DIGITAL weekly schedule. These sessions begin with a short guided meditation – using visualization and breath awareness to calm and center the mind to reduce stress. Trained teachers help you navigate the depths of your consciousness using mindfulness techniques pared with yogic breathing, simple poses and insights.

Dallas Yoga Center has trained thousands of people in science-informed mindfulness practices. Kay Colbert, LCSW
Kay is a licensed clinical social worker in Dallas with a long-term personal meditation and yoga practice. Mindfulness has been transformational for her both professionally and personally. Kay has 300 hours of training in teaching Mindfulness-Based Programs through the University of California San Diego Medical School Center for Mindfulness. Kay is a Trained Teacher of Mindful Self-Compassion.
Sarah Sampson
In her role leading social-emotional learning (SEL) for Keller ISD, Sarah supports the implementation of mindfulness and emotional-intelligence initiatives in schools that serve over 34,000 students. She began her education journey teaching theme-based yoga adventures in private schools across DFW, as well as training educators and parents how to bring the self-regulation tools of yoga and mindfulness into their homes and classrooms. Sarah is trained in MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) through UC San Diego and is a 300-hr RYT certified yoga instructor.
Dr. Christopher Willard, MCT Mindfulness and Psychology Advisor and Contributing Trainer
Dr. Christopher Willard, (PsyD) is a renowned author, international speaker, and Harvard Medical School lecturer on mindfulness and psychology. He is the author of many books including Growing Up Mindful and Raising Resilience. Dr. Willard is a psychologist and educational consultant based in Boston specializing in mindfulness with young people. He has been practicing meditation for nearly 20 years. He currently serves on the board of directors at the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy and is the President of the Mindfulness in Education Network.
Meena Srinivasan, MCT Adult Learning Advisor and Contributing Trainer
Meena Srinivasan, Executive Director of Transformative Educational Leadership (TEL), is an international educator and thought leader in the field of Social Emotional Learning and mindfulness in education. She is the author of Teach Breathe Learn, SEL Every Day, and Program Manager for SEL and mindfulness implementation in the Oakland School District serving over 60 schools which have been practicing for over 6 years. The Oakland ISD was one of the first schools in the country to integrate district-wide SEL programming. She was one of the youngest educators to be awarded the prestigious National Board Certification and is a contributor to a United Nations publication on inclusive education. She is also an advisor to the Collaborative for Academic Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL).
Daniel Sunshine, DYC Mindfulness Director
Daniel Sunshine is the Director of the mindfulness program for the Dallas Yoga Center and the CEO of responsiveintelligence.com. Daniel began his career as an innovator for companies including PBS, National Geographic, and AARP. His innovation experience is coupled with decades of mindfulness experience and teaching it to thousands of individuals within national health care organizations, fortune-100 companies, renowned private schools, and public school districts. Daniel has received mindfulness training from Brown University.
